I have a hard time choosing between the ocean and the mountains. I find serenity in both. As long as my books are nearby, the choice becomes impossible. I feel drawn to the mountains of Asia, North America and South America. Yet, as a fanatical former surfboard rider, I don't want to be far from the sea.
I retired from a 20 year plus career in psychiatric Social Work having put my degrees in psychology and social work to use. I found my true calling as a bookseller of "rare and rescued" books – second hand, to those who like the more common term. My online bookstore is called Grandmahawk's Eyrie, with nearly 7,000 books in an eclectic range of genres.
Since 2004, I have been reviewing books for New Dawn Magazine. The editor tells me that the reviews are very popular and that I ought to make them available here. Thus, it is with permission that they are republished here for your enjoyment. Please consider a subscription to New Dawn Magazine in order to read them in the full context of the interrelated articles that appear in New Dawn Magazine.
